Murray Birrell works predominantly in the private sector in Central London and the Home Counties. Our areas of work cover the following:

  • Party wall matters

  • Landlord’s representative in relation to tenants’ fit-out and alteration works

About Us
We have been in business for nearly 30 years and the successful applicants will be joining a highly-motivated and experienced team, active in several external roles beyond servicing our client base. As you can imagine, we are very proud of our Client list, which continues to grow.

We are also keen to highlight the following:

  • One of our co-founders has just completed two years as Chairman of the London Branch of the Pyramus and Thisbe Club, an organisation for professionals with a particular interest in matters relating to the Party Wall etc Act 1996, and remains on the board.
  • We have an RICS accredited conservation surveyor who is an expert on maintaining and restoring heritage buildings and who is keen to guide other surveyors to be RICS-qualified heritage experts themselves and
  • One of our Directors is responsible for mentoring junior members of staff throughout their journey to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor and also acts as an RICS Assessor interviewing potential candidates as part of their final assessment of professional competence.

Location
All of the roles are office-based in the London Borough of Bromley, next to Petts Wood station, with additional central London office facilities in Mount Street, London W1.

SENIOR BUILDING SURVEYOR

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Chartered Building Surveyor to assist in the expansion of our well-established and respected private practice.

There is potential for significant career development for the successful candidate who should be able to demonstrate sound technical and communications skills, work in a team environment and be able to accept responsibility for receipt and delivery of client instructions, have good interpersonal skills and sound commercial sense.

The company works predominantly in the private sector in Central London and the home counties. The position open to candidates will be at Senior Surveyor level, and will involve working for a number of major London Estates and managing agents as Landlord`s representative in relation to tenants` fit-out and alteration works, development monitoring, as well as party wall matters, defects analysis, planned maintenance survey and contract administration.

The successful candidate will wish to develop their career with us and demonstrate that they aspires to progress into a more senior position within the company. The candidate must therefore have or be able to develop good management skills, be client facing and keen to develop new business opportunities.

BUILDING SURVEYOR

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Building Surveyor (preferably Chartered or with demonstrable relevant experience) to assist in the expansion of our well-established private practice. AutoCAD experience preferable.

There is potential for significant career development for the successful candidate who should be able to demonstrate sound technical and communications skills, work in a team environment and be able to accept responsibility for receipt and delivery of client instructions.  The candidate should also have good interpersonal skills and sound commercial sense.

The company works predominantly in the private sector in Central London and the home counties. The position open to candidates will be at Surveyor level and will involve working for a number of major London Estates and managing agents.  The successful candidate will be involved in contract administration, Landlord`s Representative in relation to tenants` fit-out and alteration works, development monitoring, as well as party wall matters, defects analysis and planned maintenance surveys.

The successful candidate will wish to develop their career with us and demonstrate that he/she aspires to progress into a more senior position within the company. The candidate must therefore have or be able to develop good management skills, be client facing and keen to develop new business opportunities.

 GRADUATE BUILDING SURVEYOR

We seek a Graduate Building Surveyor who can receive, discuss and agree instructions from a line manager regarding services to be provided. The ideal candidate will be able to plan and organise their workload with their manager, understand the need for profitability, and can manage their workload to meet targets of time taken versus fee earned.

Additionally, carry out whatever technical and other work may be required to be undertaken, follow specific technical systems and/or procedures e.g. building contracts, Practice Notes, when requested to do so, and to research and enquire about matters that the Graduate Building Surveyor is not familiar with.

The successful candidate will be capable of handling day-to-day liaison with the office, and display good communication and administration skills relevant to a Graduate Building Surveyor.
