Peter Wade FRICS, Certified Historic Building Professional, is one of an elite few recognised by the RICS to work on historic buildings, thereby enabling Murray Birrell to offer expert advice in the highly specialised field of conservation.

This accreditation allows Peter to work on not only Grade I Listed buildings but also ecclesiastical buildings.

At Murray Birrell we use academic research as well as our detailed knowledge of historic building techniques. We recognise that the essence of conservation is to understand the ongoing process of change that buildings go through and to also appreciate that, without a degree of flexibility, some of our historic buildings will struggle to achieve a secure future.

Whilst it can be challenging to meet our Clients` needs with their historic buildings, our detailed in-house knowledge and experience helps to reconcile the issue with modern Building Control requirements and Planning issues.

We will always try to unlock an historic building’s potential and suitability for change and this requires a detailed assessment of the building’s structure.

Ultimately it is in all our interests to see our building heritage conserved for future generations to enjoy and we pride ourselves in helping our clients to achieve this.
